9. Hikiotoshi

Hozoinryu Takadaha Sojutsu Training Kata Omote Hikiotoshi

In the ninth form of the omote set the kamayari parries two times with hikiotoshi one time from jōdan and the other time from yarigamae.

The Suyari begins in gedan, the kamayari starts from jōdan.

On the third step the suyari thrusts towards the kamayari's maemen. The kamayari answers this thrust with hikiotoshi that batters the suyari to the ground. Immediately the suyari thrusts to the rear thigh of the kamayari who blocks this thrust in gedan by raising his right hand which brings the tip of his spear down. In this position the sickles have to stand vertical.

Now the suyari retreats two steps bringing his spear into yarigamae during the first one. The kamayari pursues two steps bringing his spear into yarigamae as well and his right sickle over the suyari.

At the end of his second step backward the suyari again thrusts towards the maemen of the kamayari who again knocks his opponent's spear to the ground with hikiotoshi.

The suyari now retreats another two steps while the kamayari pursues two steps both bringing their spears in yarigamae again, the right sickle of the kamayari resting on top of the suyari's shaft.

Then they disengage and return to their starting positions.
